Over the years, Atento’s commitment to the sustainable development of the communities where it operates has been a fundamental component of our corporate strategy. We believe that this commitment to the community and our strong focus on people are key enablers of our business model and reflect our distinctive culture and values.
At Atento, we structure our social commitment around three major lines of action, fostering sustainable development in the countries conforming our footprint:
Employment and job-skills training: allowing people to success on the job and achieve their full potential, becoming active members of their communities and catalysts for their future development. We do so through our global education and training program, Atento Academy, which delivered more than 13.3 million hours of training in 2014.
Society: we are a very relevant economic agent contributing to the sustainable growth in the communities in which we operate. We are a major first time employer and we promote labor inclusion, with Atento hiring from minority groups which have difficulties in finding employment. In addition, we have implemented corporate volunteer programs and campaigns that support humanitarian and social actions, such as "Helping Voices" and "Looking to the Future".
Eco-efficiency: one of Atento’s objectives is to make the best use of natural resources while using technology and processes that help us minimize our carbon footprint, increase efficiency in water and electricity consumption, recycle waste and promote greater environmental awareness.
As an extension to our local and regional activities, Atento joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative in 2011. Since then, we have incorporated the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact into our strategy, policies and processes, establishing a culture of integrity and trust. Every year we renew our commitment with the Global Compact and its mission of transforming our world, aiming to create a sustainable and inclusive global economy that delivers lasting benefits to all people, communities and markets.
In addition, in 2009, we were the first company in the sector to publish a CSR Report in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (level C), reaching a C+ in 2010 and a B+ in our three most recent reports published in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
